| 本文定义了集合的扩展特征函数和模糊集合的扩展隶属函数，以此来描述事物内部互相对立的两个方面.模糊集隶属函数的概念是模糊系统的理论创立与发展的基础，本文提出将模糊集隶属函数的值域由[0,1]区间扩展为[-1,1]区间的思想，并研究了隶属函数扩展后的相关概念及扩展隶属函数的设置方法.将扩展隶属函数应用于模糊故障诊断的实例表明，这一新概念对于解决实际问题是有效的，其结果明显优于采用常规隶属函数的结果. |

| Two definitions of expanded characterization function and expanded membership function are given out in this paper to describe two opposite sides in an object. Especially，we give the way of establishing the expanded membership function of fuzzy sets.The application examples of expanded membership function in fuzzy fault diagnosis prove that the original idea is effective in solving practical problems，and the results are better than that of applying conventional fuzzy membership function. |
